River Training

Indian rivers flow mainly into the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal. In these rivers, further subdivisions can be made based on the terrain they flow through such as Rocky, Mountainous or Deltaic/Alluvial regions. When the potential of a river is to be harnessed, it has to be suitably trained. Never a simple process, the procedure has to be designed and implemented by experts for the different types of rivers and their terrains. Care must also be taken to minimise damage to human settlements and maximise benefits to the river users. After all, taming the river has always been one of the first needs of civilised man!

Vajra InfraTech is pleased to announce its joint venture with of the Netherlands. Demas Consultants has been operating in South Asia for the last 30 years, with accredited work executed for the World Bank, other multilateral agencies and Government Authorities such as the West Bengal Government. We are currently in discussions with other companies with related activities. Within the very near future, we aim to form a team that is the first name in river training works such as river course modification, river linking, embankment strengthening and natural damming. Already we have with us, experienced and renowned names with the requisite expertise in the Riverine sector and with an added advantage of exposure to Indian operations.

India needs to harness the power of its rivers and not be subject to their vagaries. Instead of facing annual loss of life and property apart from destruction of natural environments, it is better to formulate a clear plan and start putting preventive measures in place. To assist in the same, we are ready to sit across the table and offer our technical and adminstrative/management experience to State Governments and Government Authorities such as the Inland Waterways Authority of India. Together we can and Together we will tame our rivers to work productively for the benefit of our people.
